Importing Data

Last modified on 2024-06-12

Overview

The data import is used to load item numbers, item names and values from a source system and/or a source data file into the Disclosure Management database and make them available for report creation.

It is possible to address several source systems or source files simultaneously and import data from them.

Before a data import can be carried out, the data sources including any data transformations and aggregations as well as the connections to these data sources must first be defined in the Import Management area.

The data import itself is then configured and executed at document level.

The Import Management and Import data areas are only activated for users who have the corresponding permissions to configure and/or execute a data import. These areas are grayed out for all other users.

Required Sequence of Steps

To import data into Disclosure Management:

  1. A user with the Global Administrator role creates a connection to the data source and configures it. For additional information, see Defining Connection to a Data Source.
  2. A user with the Global Administrator role creates one or more data sources and configures them. The configuration includes the mapping of the data within Disclosure Management and, if necessary, the transformation and/or aggregation of the data to be imported.  For additional information, see Defining a Data Source.
  3. A user with the Global Administrator, Document Administrator or Document Data Importer role configures the data import based on the data source and executes it at individual document level. For additional information, see Configuring and Executing a Data Import.

For additional information on user roles and permissions, see Creating and Editing User Roles for Disclosure Management.
